Tehran, Iran, August 7, 2015 – Oman struggled hard to beat underdogs Turkmenistan with an impressive come-from-behind five-set thriller 22-25, 24-26, 25-19, 30-28, 15-10, while Turkmenistan did not win a match in all seven encounters in this tournament to finish a bottom-ranked team and the 16th position in the 18th Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship.
Oman’a coach, Mohammed Al Shizawi: “Certainly, it was not a good result but I’m happy not to be the last team. My team was not that good. We played well in one set. We should not expect more than our capability. If we want big things to happen, we need big changes. My players didn’t have good preparations almost for a month. We played against big teams in this championship.
As for the Iranians hosting the tournament: “Everything was ok in Iran and we were served the best way.”
Oman’s captain, Saleh Khamis Ah Hamdani: “I’m happy we won one match in this tournament. We should admit that our team needs a lot of things to do and we also need to have a long-term preparation to fill this gap.
