Tehran, Iran, August 7, 2015 – India produced a magnificent come-from-behind 18-25, 25-23, 25-13, 18-25, 15-13 victory over Bahrain after contesting a gruelling five-set encounter in the 11th-12th place playoff in the 18th Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship on Friday.
India’s coach, Venkatesan: “There are a lot of things my players have learned from this match. Again, our game was stretched to five sets and I learned that my players are still inexperienced. My team are still young and I just have my fingers crossed and hope for the best for my team to finish a better ranking in this championship. I really expected them to be better. I just want to test them in different matches and let them gain some experiences.”
India’s captain, Praba Garan: “We lost our concentration in some moments during the match which made us play more sets. Most of our games went to the tie-breaker which made us very exhausted. I hope to be able to solve this problem and simultaneously, gaining some experiences in the near future.
Coach of Bahrain, Jorge Elgueta: “We weren’t lucky. My team played with low spirit. We could have won the match we just weren’t lucky enough. I was so pleased with my players’ performance despite the fact that they were exhausted and not in a good mood. I appreciate the Iranians for making the tournament a success. Everything was just great. My players always said that the Iranian people are great.”
