Australia breeze past Thailand to come a step closer to finishing fifth

Tehran, Iran, August 7, 2015 – Australia overwhelmed Thailand in comfortable straight sets

25-14, 25-22, 25-16 to next take on Chinese Taipei in the 5th-6th place playoff in the 18th Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship.

Australia’s coach, Roberto Santilli: “We won an easy match, but it was actually tough for us. After our loss to Iran the previous day, it was so hard to get back the mentality of winning. We lost a very crucial  match which could bring us a better title. So it was so hard to prepare the players and even the staff. We were really good on attack in this match. (about the Saturday’s match) No one can really predict the next match. Chinese Taipei is also a good team. We must wait and see what will happen.

Australia’s captain, Thomas Edgar: “We had a tough match. But I am proud of my team-mates who displayed a good volleyball against Thailand.

Thailand’s coach, Monchai Supajirakul: “Australia owns the world standard. My players did their best to win and change the result. However, to beat Australia was not that easy.

Captain of Thailand, Kittikun Sri-Utthawong: “Australia is so powerful. They are tall. We had nothing more to perform against them.”
