Kazakhstan down Oman for second win in Asian Senior Men’s Championship

Tehran, Iran, August 3, 2015 – Kazakhstan, which beat Kuwait in their pool round-robin preliminaries earlier, proved a cut above Oman to beat the rivals in four sets 25-22, 25-23, 20-25, 25-17. In their 9th-16th classification round in Pool G, Kazakhstan will next take on Pakistan, with Oman pitted against Kuwait.

Kazakhstan’s coach, Andrey Patrokov: “My players were tired. I have only six of my fixed players who are tired after three matches in a row. I’m not happy with the result. We could do better. My substitute players are so young and I have played with six players in all matches. I hope this exhaustion won’t cause any problem to us tomorrow.”

On the hosting of Iran: “Iran always provide a really good situation for the guests and is as well the same in this tournament too.”

Kazakhstan’s captain, Alexander Stolnikov: “We were just good today but I’m not satisfying. We are losing steam fast and need to get back to our good condition the day after Wednesday when we will have a day off for rest.”

Oman’s coach, Al Shizawi: “I haven’t yet taken control of team in these competitions. We were a bit better today but I’m still not happy with my team and haven’t seen the real Oman. I hope my players will have much better performance tomorrow.”

Oman’s captain, Al Hamdani: “It was not a good game but we managed to win a set. Maybe we are going to overcome Kuwait tomorrow but it is difficult to predict the result.”
