Tehran, Iran, August 3, 2015 – India claimed the first three points in the 18th Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship after defeating Sri Lanka in straight set 25-17, 25-22, 25-17.
Sri Lanka’s coach, Wendakoon: “My players let me down. Before the match I didn’t expect to play like this. We just spiked, but all our attempts were in vain. We will next try to get the best result against Turkmenistan.”
Sri Lanka’s captain, S.A.J Surath: “Unfortunately, we could not break our jinx in this match. We tried in different ways to score but our efforts did not work out well. I think we are stronger playing Turkmenistan.”
India’s coach, Venkatesan: “Getting six points in this round is the only thing that could make us happy. It was a beautiful match. Today we proved our power in serves and reception and our young players have shown a remarkable progress each day. Bahrain is a good team but we want to get six points from this games to make sure we can rank the ninth place.”
India’s captain, Praba Garan: “Sri Lanka is a good team but we performed better. We fell behind at the middle of the sets and tried to get to the lead by targeting their weak points.”
